Karlingesund Retreat Center is a beautiful place embedded in the lush green province of Bohuslän a couple of hundred steps from the ocean. The magical atmosphere and unique design enchants our guests. Kärlingesund is a place for encounters, creativity, activity, exchange and personal growth, for recovery, peace and quiet and new inspiration.
It is situated in the middle of Kärlingesund nature reserve, which is famous for its pastures, the typical ice-pushed boulders, beautiful oak and beech forests and closeness to the meandering waterways of the Nordströmmarna (Northern Streams).
Yoga Sala
Kärlingesund RC will probably not remind you of anything you‘ve seen before. You will find very few right angles and all the walls shimmer in playful colors created by the artists and founders Mats & Sigrid. This is the perfect backdrop for all kinds of creativity.
The big workshop room offers 104 m2, it’s light and airy with many windows and high ceilings.
We also have a bright and cosy lounge with a breathtaking view on natur and soft couches where you can linger and enjoy the company of others.

- – We have 15 standard single rooms (1-15) on the ground floor.
- – On the first floor is the ‘Saletta’ (S1 & S2) reserved for the teacher team with 2 bedrooms and a privat lounge and bathroom.
- – 2 smaller single rooms (16 & 17) either for team members or participants
- – For groups with more than 17 participants we offer some double- or twin bedroom options.
- – One room with three single beds located in the barn
- – 7 toilets and 7 showers are in the main house
- we can host up to 35 persons on site.
food & kitchen
The food served here is healthy, tasty, and beautifully presented, seasoned with the chefs‘s personal touch and imagination, and created with love and joy.
We mainly serve vegetarian food and use organically grown vegetables and local produce dressed with herbs grown in our own garden. Our tea kitchen in the main house is for common use. The bright dining room offers space für 40 people and has direct access to the outside terrace and garden.

On our two terraces you can enjoy a cozy get together. If you are looking for quiet moments, you will find places to linger in the garden or you can walk to the shore of the fjord in just a fiew minutes. Numerous hiking routes lead from Kärlingesund Retreat Center through the varied nature of the Bohuslän archipelago.
at the waterfront
In the bay of the fjord in front of Kärlingesund Retreat Center our guests swim all year round. From the wooden jetty you can jump straight into the water. With our two kayaks and the stand-up paddle board you can wonderfully discover the fjord and the stillness in a spectacular natural environment. The small island of Bassholmen can be reached by water.
nature
Situated in middle of the Kärlingesund nature reserve from where several great walking paths meander through the hilly landscape, where cows, calves and horses graze in the meadow and you hear only the peaceful sounds of nature. One of the trails will lead you through an amazingly beautiful birch forest to a spectacular look-out with a startling ocean view. Sit on the rocks, watch colourful sunsets and let your thoughts become as calm as the surface of the water.
